I forgot about this place. Wonder if anyone still uses LJ.

I remember typing up my entries at the end of everyday, assuming the fine people of the LJ community gave half a damn, but here I am, almost 2 years out from my most recent entry, and I don't suppose much is different. Or maybe much is different....

Let's see....

-President Bush's second and final term will expire in less than a year, and considering he's been President virtually my entire adult life thus far, it will be interesting to see how someone else does.

-My political views have expanded and contracted over the past couple of years, as is normal for people in my age group. I've gone from Super Conservative to Sort of Conservative to Moderate to Libertarian to Sort of Liberal to Confused and back again. Now, I suppose I would call myself a quasi-Conservative. I think if I had to put a label on my political views today, I would call myself a classical liberal (much, much different meaning than the modern meaning of the word "liberal"). Classical liberalism stresses individual freedom, limited government, property rights, and protects civil liberties.

-I bought a house.

-I bought a car.

-I turned 26.

-I stopped using my emotions as a "trusted spiritual advisor" (or at least I've taken a lot of steps in that direction).

Lots of other things have changed as well, but we won't get into that.

Right now, I'm about ready to get leave work and go home. I'm supposed to be here for another couple of hours, but we'll see about that.

I prefer vague references to my life and how "it's" going.
Person 1: "What did you do today??"
Billy: "Ehh....just worked and whatnot."

That's fun to me.

I don't know how to put this, but I'm kind of a big deal. People know me. I'm very important. I have many leather-bound books, and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.

stupid life Jun. 12th, 2006 @ 10:20 pm
So here's how the story goes. Life is great. I'm happy, and basically everything is going my way. I'm totally satisfied with myself, God, my job, and my relationship status of "single."

Then, just as things seem like they couldn't go any better, I sort of inadvertently make the decision to start CASUALLY dating a girl that seems to want nothing more than to get married as soon as possible (not that she's said it, just implied it).

I like being single. It's fun to date around and just have a good time (no, I'm not a player). I like keeping my options open, and I just can't justify taking the risk that relationships involve (again) on anyone I've met in the past 24 years. Well, there is one person, and it's not likely that any of you have ever met her (not Jessica...k thx), but it's not even a possibility right now, because she lives a long, long way away.

That's my luck, I suppose. I fall for a girl who's only living in my city temporarily. Way to go, Billy.

I'm terribly picky about girls I date. No girl I've dated in the past year and a half has lasted more than 2 weeks. I know what I want, and if I don't see it, there's really no point in sticking around. It will just make things harder.

The problem is, I've seen what I wanted in a select few girls, but have seldom pursued anything with them. Why? Because I'm a poon.

I need something good to happen outside of work (in my personal life). Work has been outstanding, school has been pretty good, but my social life has been a huge mess. I have friends here, but they all live in Fort worth, and i live an hour from there.

Okay, I needed to vent. Sorry for the crappy mood I'm in.

It kicks some serious A. I figured I'd be needing a something to capture my experiences on the cruise, what with all the beautiful ladies scenery and all.

I need a new car, but I haven't bought one yet. Wanna guess why? Because I can't decide what I want. That's right. Apparently, I'm just that indecisive. I have it narrowed down to about 2 or 3 cars. Hopefully sometime before August, I'll make a decision, so I can stop driving the little Nissan truck.

That would be outstanding.

I just finished the first season of 24 on DVD (FINALLY....i got it as a gift a couple of years back). I love that show....it managed to keep my interest for the entire season.

The ending though. That was crappy. I suppose they have to keep you interested, so you'll watch the 2nd season.

Ah well. It was really good. One of my favorite shows on TV. :-)

I was in alabama this weekend. It was real.

I didn't get a chance to head down to Tuscaloosa. Sorry folks. :-\ I wasn't home very long, so I was pretty much busy the entire time I was home. I'ma try to come home sometime before the end of the summer, hopefully for a little longer this time.

It was definitely good to see everyone that I did get to see though.

I'm getting a real office at work! haha. :-) I get to go pick out a desk today. It's exciting. It's been really nice to have some time off of school so far. I think I'll be ready to go back in August.

Life's good. Even with all the ridiculous mess ups and mistakes I make, God still manages to find a way to use this guy. It seems unfair, I guess, but that's the way grace works.

» Feels Good
It feels good, so very good, to be finished with school for the summer. I have that kind of relief that only comes after you've accomplished something that you know you've worked hard for. It's been a tough year to get through, working 40-50 hours a week and trying to be successful at school, but It's also been an amazing year. Now, I'm so ready for the summer. I needed a break like mad, and now I've got it.

I think I'ma goto Vegas this summer, and I may hit up the beach a time or two as well. Plus, I'm gonna be home for a few days this month. It's gonna be good to see the fam and my friends.

mmmm. I just feel really good about life. It did me a lot of good to be off from work today and just relax.

Peace up...

» I'm converting to Mormonism.
Mormonism actually believes that the Garden of Eden was located somewhere west of the town square in, you guessed it, Independence, Missouri. Apparently, Joseph Smith revealed this to his followers as a modern "revelation." And when Christ makes His triumphant return, it will be in that very spot right on the Mississippi River. Furthermore, Noah actually built his ark right around there, and he sailed it right over to Mesopotamia (rough estimates conclude a distance of approximately four jillion miles). Interesting indeed. Maybe he sailed on the Mississippi River. What an honor to have lived so close to that very body of water through which Noah may have guided the great ark.

What a priviledge to have received such a revelation from God. What's even more amazing is how God enabled Mr. Smith to translate “Reformed Egyptian Heiroglyphics” (a language that does not exist, mind you) through a set of "magic rocks" (yes, magic rocks), so that he could read from the large gold tablets upon which the Book of Mormon was originally written. What's even more amazing is that, with the size and scale of these gold tablets, described by Mr. Smith, they would have weighed over 200 pounds, and do you know what Joseph Smith did after he translated them? He put them under his arm and ran home (about 2 miles) to show them to his brother. That guy must have been a beast. What a pity that those tablets haven't been seen by more than a few "witnesses," one of whom first reported seeing nothing more than an empty box, and could only see the "tablets" after spending several hours in prayer (forced by Mr. Smith, of course). After he let the few witnesses see them, the angel, "Maroni" escorted them back into eternity.

Interesting stuff. I'm pretty sure I'm converting. This just has "eternal truth" written all over it.

» Kerry/Sharpton '08!
Looks like Kerry is gonna make another run for the presidency. I am most excited about this.

"A Roman Catholic who has struggled at times to talk about his own faith, Mr. Kerry also told the group that he believed 'deeply in my faith' and that the Koran, the Torah, the Gospels and the Acts of the Apostles had influenced a social conscience that he exercised in politics.

"'I will tell you, nowhere in there, nowhere, not in one page, not in one phrase uttered and reported by the Lord Jesus Christ, can you find anything that suggests that there is a virtue in cutting children from Medicaid and taking money from the poor and giving it to the rich,' Mr. Kerry said."

I think it's fun to watch when people with no moral values try to become appealing to those who have moral values, particularly in politics, mostly because it's so easy to spot.

Two points I would like to make:

1) Did John Kerry really just point out that Jesus never talked about Medicaid? Wow. Seriously John, could you make a more obvious statement. That's sort of like saying, "Jesus never said anything about building a wall on our border with Mexico, so it isn't moral to do it."

2) Although I don't advocate taking from the poor and giving to the rich, I will say that Mr. Kerry has obviously not actually read the Bible (which is generally a good idea if you're going to make reference to "every page" of it). Jesus' parable of the talents can be found in Luke 19:12-26, where the servant who did not make any return on his master's money was ordered to give what little he had to the one who made a 10 fold return on the money. I don't think the point is to actually do that; this story seems to have more of an implicit meaning to use the gifts you've been given or they will be taken away from you. However, my point is that this parable not only "suggests" what John Kerry claims was never suggested, but also explicitly teaches that very principle.

I'd like to clearly state my advocacy for either John Kerry or Al Sharpton for the Democratic Nominee in '08. Don't get me wrong; I think Hillary will lose as well if she wins in the primaries, but it will be more fun to watch with one of the former in the hot seat, because they both perform so well under pressure.

What the eff is this nation coming to?? A group of students from a High School in California walked out of class promptly at 9:00 to protest the new immigration bill being pushed by the Bush admin. They went outside and put the American flag upside down underneath their Mexican flag.

I suppose I'll never understand why people are protesting this bill so much. Why should you not have to get legal citizenship in order to stay here? Why should you not have to pay taxes or pay for health care just because you're an illegal immigrant? And why should those who are here illegally benefit from my tax dollars?

It just isn't logical, and when Bush tries to pass a bill to make immigrants become legal, they, on our own turf, turn our flag upside down and raise theirs above ours. What, are they trying to take over? I sure hope so. Let me know how that goes.

I can't help but thing about the Florida judge who ruled that a Florida resident couldn't fly an American flag outside his house, because someone else on the block got offended. I mean, wow. Something really has to be done about this. We're sacrificing our culture, all because we're afraid of offending someone by having a different culture than them.

We don't ask them to change their culture when they get here, but we will change ours for them.

I know a lot of you aren't interested in politics, but I can't help it. hah. Things like this interest me.
